St. Joseph Catholic Academy is looking forward to a full sports season this fall. In order to ensure that our high school athletes are prepared for the physical demands of high school sports, SJCA is providing weight training and conditioning sessions for our high school athletes beginning July 1st. In order to accommodate as many high school students as possible, as safely as possible, SJCA is offering both indoor and outdoor strength training and conditioning sessions.

Indoor sessions will take place in the Frank Matrise Fitness Center. Outdoor sessions will take place in the football practice field behind the SJCA gymnasium. Led by members of the SJCA coaching staff, these sessions will be held from from July 1st - July 30th, Monday through Thursday.

Each session will be limited to ten (10) high school students. In keeping with best practices, workouts will be conducted in "cohorts" with the same students always working out together throughout the entire month. There will be no mixing of students or coaches. 


  • Each participant MUST register and sign up online before attending any workout session.
  • Students must choose which session they will attend.
  • Once a student registers for a specific time and session, that is the SET TIME that he or she will be able to use the weight room for the month. 
  • In order to minimize health risks, families with more than one high school athlete are expected to be in the same workout cohort.
  • Workout spaces are limited. Please do not register for a workout spot unless you are fully committed to attending these sessions on a very regular basis.
  • Spots will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis.

Session hours are Monday through Thursday from July 1st through July 31st.

  • 8:00 a.m. to 8:45 a.m. - Indoor Weight Room
  • 8:00 a.m. to 8:45 a.m. - Outdoor Field 
  • 9:00 a.m. to 9:45 a.m. - Indoor Weight Room
  • 9:00 a.m. to 9:45 a.m. - Outdoor Field 
  • 10 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. - Indoor Weight Room
  • 10 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. - Outdoor Field

Note: Both the 8:00 a.m. and 9:00 a.m. sessions are specific, coach-led workouts. The 10:00 a.m. sessions are free weight sessions, with coach supervision.



Keeping the safety of our students at the forefront, SJCA will follow all recommendations of the WIAA, Health Department and Archdiocese of Milwaukee and strictly enforce the following protocols:

  1. Only ten (10) student/athletes and a coach are allowed for each indoor or outdoor session.
  2. All students must bring their own water bottle.  There will be absolutely NO SHARING OF WATER BOTTLES.
  3. Prior to each workout, all coaches and students will be screened for signs/symptoms of Covid-19 which includes a no touch temperature check. Anyone with a temperature of 100.4 or higher will not be allowed to participate.  
  4. If a student is feeling sick, PLEASE do not attend a workout session.
  5. Student/Athletes will be separated by at least 6 feet while exercising both indoors and out.
  6. Students are expected to follow all health and safety practices regarding coughing, sneezing, hand washing, personal hygiene and social distancing.
  7.  No high fives, handshakes or physical contact between athletes is allowed.
  8. All windows, doors and fans will be opened and on for each indoor session. 
  9. Weight room Coaches and Supervisors will wear a mask during the sessions.
  10. Hand sanitizer stations will be located throughout the weight room and outside by the field.
  11. All shared equipment will be cleaned after each student's use.
  12. All surfaces in the weight room will be cleaned before and after each session.
  13. Every Friday, the SJCA maintenance team will deep clean the weight room.
