Volunteer Guidelines

When you give to SJCA by volunteering your time, not only do you support our events, you build relationships with other SJCA parents and families and serve as role models and mentors to our students. We are a stronger more vibrant community with parent and friend involvement. Volunteer opportunities include fundraising events, classroom, administrative, field trip duties, athletics and sports events, and theater performances.

All volunteers are required to meet the requirements set forth by the Archdiocese of Milwaukee Safe Environment program.  This is for all volunteers including tutors, room moms, catechists, athletic team coaches, scout leaders, chaperones for overnight activities, chaperones for school activities, and any other volunteers who have regular contact with SJCA students.

The Archdiocese uses Catholic Mutual Group’s CMGConnect as the platform for ensuring compliance with the program.

  1. Create an account with CMGConnect. Click here to be taken to the registration page
  2. Register for a live class conducted at a location within the Archdiocese of Milwaukee.
  3. Enter your personal information for a background check to be run.
  4. Read and acknowledge the Code of Ethical Standards for Church Leaders and the Mandatory Reporting document (online with CMGConnect).

Keep in mind that classes may not be offered in our area on a regular basis. If you intend to volunteer, please register and allow sufficient time for the class to be held and your background check to be run. Background checks are not completed until the class has been attended. Click here to see a schedule of classes.

NOTE: Per the Archdiocese of Milwaukee Safe Environment program, background checks must be up to date and re-submitted every five (5) years.

Anyone wanting to drive SJCA students for school events or field trips must be in compliance with the Archdiocese of Milwaukee Safe Environment program, complete the Archdiocesan Transportation Form and complete the Be Smart - Drive Safe training module via the Catholic Mutual Group website (CMGConnect).

  • Please click here to print the Archdiocese Driver Information Sheet.   Please complete, sign and turn in with Deanna Foley at the upper campus.
  • The "Be Smart - Drive Safe" training module is accessed through your CMGConnect account. If you took a live Safe Environment class in the Archdiocese of Milwaukee, an account is already in existence for you. If you don’t remember your user name and password, please contact Deanna Foley at 262-654-8651 ext. 102. Once you have accessed your CMGConnect account, scroll down to “Optional Training Curriculums”, scroll over to find the Be Smart- Drive Safe module. It takes about 15-20 minutes to complete the video. You must watch the video in its entirety to get credit for the video.  **Most insurances accept the video as a “Defensive Driving Course” and offer a discount if you show proof you completed the video. **

Once the paperwork has been turned in and it has been confirmed an individual passed the training module, the driver’s license still needs to be run through Catholic Mutual. This may take up to one week for Wisconsin licenses and two weeks for out-of-state licenses.

The Be Smart – Drive Safe module and driver’s license check will need to be completed every three (3) years.
