2025-2026 Lower Campus Weekly Info

Updated: 5 hours ago

Today's afternoon sunshine and tailgate Friday Fun Lunch brought such joy to the Lower Campus. Thank you to Mandy Weiss (SJHS '97), Thomas Connolly (SJCA '23), and Charlie Anderson (SJCA '23) for orchestrating our Big Blue tailgate, as well as our incredible parent volunteers, Becky Roti-Lasee, Danya Varner, Nancy Humphrey, and Marisa Lind for serving our kiddos this afternoon.

L-A-N-C-E-R Countdown to the Last Day!

We will begin a very intentional, condensed, countdown to the last day of school on May 26th, using our Lancer moniker. This will begin on Tuesday after we return from Memorial Day weekend. Please plan accordingly but know participation is completely optional. Choosing to wear your regular uniform is always okay.

Sr. Sylvia's India Project: Children Helping Children

ENDING SOON! Each year, Sr. Sylvia brings one of the most meaningful weeks of our school year to life right here in Room 105. The India Project is a beautiful tradition rooted in our call to serve others, raising funds to support special needs children at the Assisi School in India. Through the generosity of our students and families, we have helped provide a school building, windows, doors, school supplies, and so much more for children taught by the School Sisters of St. Francis, Sr. Sylvia's own international religious community.

Students can participate by purchasing raffle tickets for 25 cents each through their homeroom teacher, then selecting which of the donated prize baskets they hope to win. A drawing will be held at the end of the project week and winners announced the following day.

Thank you to our teachers for donating prizes, to our Parent Association for their continued financial support, and to every family who gives. Your generosity reaches further than you know.

LC Field Day: Friday, May 29th

Thank you to all the parents that have signed up to volunteer with us on the 29th. Every spot has been filled; we are ready for field day!

From wrapping up MAPS testing to our 3rd graders cheering on the Brewers at yesterday's game, to facilitating our first biological development presentations with our 4th and 5th grade students today -- this week was definitely full! We are grateful for every experience we get to offer our students, and weeks like this one remind us why we do what we do. These next few weeks are shaping up to be just as full, and if this week is any indication, they are going to fly by.

We are heading into MAPS testing week, and I want to take a moment to offer a word of encouragement to our families. This is not a test to cram for or lose sleep over -- it is simply a tool that helps us see how much your child has grown over the course of the year. The best preparation is also the most straightforward: a good night's rest, a real breakfast, and a reminder from you that doing their best is always enough. Our students have worked hard this year, and this week is simply a chance to show it.

Each year, we celebrate our 5th graders with a photo slideshow. This tradition is a meaningful part of the promotion program. This year, we need a parent volunteer with the time and talent to make it happen.

If you have video editing skills and can take this on, please contact your classroom teacher as soon as possible. (We are on a tight timeline!) And if your child is in a younger grade, keep this in mind for your class's year, it is one of those traditions that means a great deal to the students and families who experience it!

LC Yearbook Ordering:

The 2025-2026 LC Yearbook is an 8x8 hardcover book, priced at just $25.00.

Payment is accepted by cash or check made payable to SJCA. Please place payment in a labeled envelope with your child's name and teacher's name and return it to the office.

Orders are due by Thursday, April 23rd. No late orders will be accepted, so please don't wait.

SAVE THE DATE: April 22nd at Texas Roadhouse!

Please save the date as Texas Roadhouse will once again host another Lower Campus Dine to Donate evening. A percentage of the evening sales will be donated back to Mrs. LaLonde for discretionally spending here as we need it.

Parent Association Corner:

We are sorry to share that the LC Parent Spring Mingle has been canceled. This event was envisioned as a relaxed evening for parents to connect, enjoy some fellowship, and learn more about what the Parent Association does for our school and our students. We had hoped to see more families there, and we are genuinely disappointed it did not come together. If you are curious about the PA and how you can get involved or stay informed, please reach out -- we would love to hear from you.

A few reminders:

  1. For safety of all involved, we need students on the passenger side of the car. Teachers and safety patrol cannot come around to the drivers side. This is for both drop off locations, preschool and back playground.

  2. Mass Attendance Policy: We welcome guests to join us in prayer at our weekly campus Masses on Wednesdays at 9:30 AM. Guests should enter through the main office doors off of 14th Street between 9:15 and 9:35 AM. Guests wil sign in with Ms. Michelle before heading to the church.

  3. Fast Food Policy: Students need to bring a cold lunch from home or order from Taher each day. If they have forgotten a lunch, fast food deliveries will not be accepted. Students will be provided with a hot lunch, if available, or an uncrustable and chips. In either scenario, the students' lunch account will be charged for the full cost of a hot lunch.

  4. Wearable Device Policy: For those looking for additional clarity on our wearable device policy, I have provided the handbook below. You may click on the excerpt to be taken to the full handbook, which can always be found on the "mysjca" section of our website. I encourage any parents with questions to reach out to me directly.

  5. Dress Code Policy:

    • Ripped jeans are not permitted, even on spirit wear or free dress days

    • Ugg-style slippers and Crocs are not allowed at school

    • Top-layer sweatshirts and sweaters must:

      • Be uniform-approved and include the school logo

      • Be in designated uniform colors (tan and khaki are not permitted)

      • Not include a hood

If a student arrives at school out of dress code, the office or classroom teacher will contact home or ask the student to change, in accordance with handbook guidelines.

Thank you for your partnership in helping us maintain a consistent, distraction-free learning environment. The full dress code policy can always be found here your reference.

Summer Enrichment Opportunities:

This section will be for additional opportunities for our families over the summer.

Did you know we had over 425 guests for Grandparent/Special Person's Day here on Wednesday?! A heartfelt thank you to every person who attended, Jen Portilia and Tracy Kelley for planning such a wonderful event, and the volunteers who helped out that morning.

Storybook Pumpkins

Each fall, our Lower Campus library and cafeteria come to life with the creations of our families' storybook pumpkins!

This optional activity invites students to decorate a pumpkin to look like a favorite character from a book they love. Pumpkins are proudly displayed at school for classmates, teachers, and visitors to enjoy throughout the last weeks of October.

Here’s how it works:

  • Pumpkins should be decorated—not carved—using paint, markers, fabric, or other materials that can be glued on.

  • Choose a character from a children’s book and bring it to life through your pumpkin design.

  • Please bring decorated pumpkins to school during the week of October 20.

  • All pumpkins will go home by October 30. Any pumpkins left at school after that date will be discarded.

This is a fun and festive way to combine creativity with a love of reading—and we can’t wait to see what our Lancers come up with this year!

A Note on Attendance

As we continue to settle into our routines, I want to offer a gentle reminder about reporting student absences. It’s important that we have accurate attendance each day, and we truly appreciate your help in keeping our records up to date.

If your child will be absent, we ask that you notify both your child’s teacher and Mrs. Michelle Boyd in the school office. This ensures clear communication and avoids any confusion in our system.

You can contact Mrs. Boyd in any of the following ways:

  • Call our attendance line at 262-656-7360 and leave a message

  • Send a message on Seesaw

  • Email mboyd@sjcawi.org

All Saints Day at the LC: October 29th

As we prepare our hearts for All Saints Day, we remember that each of us is called to holiness. The lives of the saints remind us that ordinary people, through love and faithfulness, can do extraordinary things for God.

We warmly invite all Lower Campus students to choose a Catholic saint who inspires them and, if they wish, to dress as that saint for our All Saints Day Mass on Wednesday, October 29th. This is a beautiful way for our students to learn from the examples of the faithful who came before us and to reflect on how they, too, can live lives of holiness. Participation is optional, but if your child would like to dress as a saint, please complete this Google Form by Monday, October 27th.

Together, let us continue to grow in faith and strive to be saints in our own time. Click here to sign up now!
