SJCA Presents Elf, Jr. - OPENING SOON!

11/14/2025 Archive
I know I introduced a few changes over these last few weeks, and I'd like to take a moment to thank the families who have reached out with words of encouragement and support. Your kindness, flexibility, and partnership mean the world to me. Change can be uncomfortable, but it is also a sign of growth—and I am thrilled we are growing together.
A few of our Lower Campus students have been working on growth these last few months as well. As you may recall, earlier this fall, auditions for the SJCA production of Elf, Jr. were held here and at the Upper Campus. The show is just a few weeks away, and I’m pleased to share the details with all of our families. Please come support our Lancer participants of all ages, and get yourself in the holiday spirit.

While Monday's snow delayed us a day, TUESDAY we were able to use the stairs for our first award recipients. Congratulations to our next group of Saintly Scholars. How wonderful it was for our students, both presenters and award recievers to walk up the stairs and be on stage in front of their peers. Again my sincerest gratitude to Catalyst Exhibits for their incredible support throughout this project. If you missed the Facebook announcement about the stairs, be sure to check it out!

As I mentioned in this week’s newsletter, our Lancer Gala is just around the corner—and I’d love to see as many of our Lower Campus families involved as possible. Events like the Gala aren’t just fun evenings out—they’re essential to how our school sustains.
Like many Catholic schools, tuition at SJCA covers only about 70% of the true cost to educate each child. That remaining 30% is covered by generous donors, community partners, and essential fundraising events such as this. Catholic education here at SJCA is built on shared sacrifice, collective stewardship, and deep belief in our mission.
Whether you attend the Gala, contribute your time and/or God-given talents, your involvement matters. These efforts help fund classroom resources, academic programs, campus ministry, and so much more—making an immediate impact for your child and every student across our Academy.
If you’ve never attended before, this is a great year to jump in. If you’re a regular, I look forward to seeing you again for another unforgettable night in support of our mission. Click for more info!

Storybook Pumpkins
Each fall, our Lower Campus library and cafeteria come to life with the creations of our families' storybook pumpkins!
This optional activity invites students to decorate a pumpkin to look like a favorite character from a book they love. Pumpkins are proudly displayed at school for classmates, teachers, and visitors to enjoy throughout the last weeks of October.
Here’s how it works:
Pumpkins should be decorated—not carved—using paint, markers, fabric, or other materials that can be glued on.
Choose a character from a children’s book and bring it to life through your pumpkin design.
Please bring decorated pumpkins to school during the week of October 20.
All pumpkins will go home by October 30. Any pumpkins left at school after that date will be discarded.
This is a fun and festive way to combine creativity with a love of reading—and we can’t wait to see what our Lancers come up with this year!Â
All Saints Day at the LC: October 29th
As we prepare our hearts for All Saints Day, we remember that each of us is called to holiness. The lives of the saints remind us that ordinary people, through love and faithfulness, can do extraordinary things for God.
We warmly invite all Lower Campus students to choose a Catholic saint who inspires them and, if they wish, to dress as that saint for our All Saints Day Mass on Wednesday, October 29th. This is a beautiful way for our students to learn from the examples of the faithful who came before us and to reflect on how they, too, can live lives of holiness. Participation is optional, but if your child would like to dress as a saint, please complete this Google Form by Monday, October 27th.
Together, let us continue to grow in faith and strive to be saints in our own time. Click here to sign up now!

I said it last week, and I’ll say it again — what another incredible week it has been here at the Lower Campus. Not only was the air buzzing with Homecoming excitement, but there was a sense of joy and unity that radiated throughout our building. From classroom activities to hallway cheers and spirit our students brought Homecoming to life in such a special way. We had so many students bring in candy to support our candy collection, and ended up with a multi classroom tie. As a result, I have decided to give THE ENTIRE LOWER CAMPUS A FREE DRESS DAY on Monday!
We ended the week with one of my favorite traditions — a blessing of the animals in honor of the Feast of St. Francis. Father Jose Mario led us in prayer as students held tightly to their stuffed animals, and it was a beautiful moment of reverence, laughter, and love. These gentle reminders of God’s creation and care are exactly t e kind of moments that ground us in faith and community. Many photos of our week were shared on social media, and a few additional blog exclusives can be found below.
As we head into a busy October, I want to remind all families to be sure you’re checking the blog and newsletter each week. Grandparents Day is just around the corner — RSVPs are essential, and you’ll find the form linked throughout this post. From family events to faith formation, October is full of opportunities to come together. Let’s make the most of it.

What another incredible week it has been here at the Lower Campus. I’m thrilled to share photos of our first Be Not Afraid Award recipients—students who are showing faith-filled courage in beautiful ways.
One teacher shared that they selected their student for bravely forging a new friendship earlier in the day, and later in prayer, thanking Jesus for helping them be a good friend. Another staff member shared that their recipient came in one morning, walked right up to her, and said they couldn’t wait to hear the next part of her story about Noah and all the water.
NEW UPDATES FOR NEXT WEEK: To mark the start of the MLB playoffs, and the Brew Crew holding the top spot, our students are invited to a baseball-themed dress down day this Tuesday! Wear any team baseball/softball jersey or a top in your favorite team color, and any bottoms and help us celebrate the postseason fun together.
In honor of the Feast of St. Francis of Assisi on Saturday, October 4th, Father Jose Mario will offer a special Blessing of Animals for our students. To participate, all students are invited to bring ONE small stuffed animal to school this Friday to be blessed. Please make sure it can comfortably fit inside a backpack, no oversized or giant plush toys, please!
SJCA Homecoming 2025
We’re glowing with excitement for Homecoming! This year’s Homecoming GlowCo 2025 will be full of fun and festivities planned for students, alumni, and our entire Lancer community. Check out all the details here.
Most important highlights for LC families:
Wear spiritwear Thursday and Friday, October 2nd and 3rd.
SJCA PA is asking for candy donations for the parade and I wanted to sweeten the deal. The classroom that collects the most candy will receive a dress down day from me.
Our very own Mr. Connolly is the head coach of the varsity soccer team, and we’d love to show him our support! Join us at 4:00 PM at Ameche Field, immediately following the parade—to cheer on our beloved gym teacher as he leads his team to victory.
FUNdraising for the LC: Texas Roadhouse Night!
Come for an evening of FUNdraising. Carry out and IN-STORE gift cards counts as well! Grab one for a future outing and you'll still be contributing to our FUNdraising efforts. Please share by printing or simply showing your phone with this picture.

CORRECTION: Monday’s MAP Testing will be for grades first through fifth, not fifth only as detailed in the calendar section of the newsletter.
This week also marked the Monday Morning Assembly, where we honor Lancers who are truly embodying what it means to be a Lancer. Each week, we highlight a different aspect of our mission—Scholar, Leader, Steward—with awards that reflect both achievement and virtue. This is a new tradition where we gather to kick off each week with joy, unity, and the following recognitions.
Saintly Scholar Award: Given to a student showing academic excellence or sincere academic effort. Whether they’re mastering new material or simply giving their best, these Lancers inspire others with their dedication to learning.
Be Not Afraid Award: Reflecting our school-wide theme, this award honors students who show faith-filled courage—through reverent Mass behavior, participating in religion lessons, or stepping up to serve in ways that stretch them.
Lancer Value Award: Each month, we focus on a Lancer Value such as kindness, respect, or integrity. This award recognizes students who live those values in their words and actions.
I know being a student-only assembly is new for our returning families, and I promise to share photos. You will find them on our Facebook pages and in this blog.
Â
Above all, these moments remind us that we are not just a school—we are a body made up of many parts, beautifully diverse, uniquely gifted, and perfectly placed in this time and place. Each child, each family, is made in the image of God and belongs fully to our community. It is a gift to grow together in faith, in learning, and in love.

SJCA Homecoming 2025
We’re glowing with excitement for Homecoming! This year’s Homecoming GlowCo 2025 will be full of fun and festivities planned for students, alumni, and our entire Lancer community. Check out all the details here.
Most important highlights for LC families:
Wear spiritwear Thursday and Friday, October 1st and 2nd.
SJCA PA is asking for candy donations for the parade and I wanted to sweeten the deal. The classroom that collects the most candy will receive a dress down day from me.
Looking forward to seeing all of you at the weekend festivities!

Homecoming Week, classroom parties, Grandparents' Day, Trunk or Treat, and so much more are on the horizon. We love having family members in our building to share in these experiences with us. In compliance with the Archdiocesian requirements, all volunteers must complete the Safeguarding process. Many of you many already be familiar, but I wanted to get this information out so that anyone who is interested in participating is eligible. Every Archdiocesian priest, deacon, parish or school staff member, teacher and lay minister that is employed by a parish or school and ANY VOLUNTEER working with minors is required to meet three requirements:
Click here to read all the requirements!
1-Attend a Safe Environment Education Session. This is a child abuse and maltreatment prevention program that must be attended in person. The current curriculum taught in this session utilizes the Safe Haven series from Catholic Mutual Group.Â
2-Pass a Criminal Background Check. This check is done at the start of employment or beginning volunteering with minors and must be done every five (5) years subsequently. The criminal background check is conducted through the CMG Connect portal. The criminal background check reports are reviewed and certified through the collaboration of the Archdiocese of Milwaukee Safe Environment Office and parish/school Safe Environment coordinators. Â
3-Sign the Code of Ethical Standards. This code of conduct provides clergy, volunteers, and employees with expectations and guidelines for how they interact with and conduct themselves in ministry. This code must be signed prior to beginning volunteering or working in a parish or school and is reviewed every five (5) years subsequently. Â
We are all tasked with participating in ensuring that every child is able to feel safe in our school and therefore maintain compliance with this process. If a family member has NOT completed each requirement, we will not grant them access to volunteer the event. To make this process easier, SJCA is hosting three upcoming Education Sessions. Click here to register; seats are limited and offered on a first come, first serve basis.

This week's blog content is much lighter, and what a welcomed repreive it is. On the blog this week I am highlighting a few "housekeeping" type items.
REMINDER: Picture Day - Monday, September 8th!
Come dressed in your uniform best, along with this form! Please wear your uniform best and be ready to SMILE! Order photos online mylifetouch.com and the code is EVTPZ43VP. Picture proofs will come home in the coming weeks with additional ordering information included.
Snack and Birthday Treats
To ensure we are setting ourselves up for the best possible academic day, we are strongly suggesting parents consider a healthy snack option, such as fresh fruit, veggies and dip,
granola bars, cheese, crackers, pretzels, goldfish, meat sticks, and water for proper hydration. Snacks such as candy, chocolates, chips, Taki's, snack cakes, donuts, gartorade/prime or any beverage flavor packet should all be saved for another time outside of school. Similarly, I ask you use the same mindset when selecting a birthday treat. These must be store bought in the original packaging, These treats will only be shared with the children and teacher in the classroom.
Spiritwear Fridays
Just a friendly reminder, every Friday students may chose to where any SJCA logoed top, and any bottoms. Sweats, jeans, shorts, etc. On Friday, you pick!
Hallow App
As you may already know, SJCA is now a proud partner school of the Hallow App. New to the academy this year, this is a program for all ages. From littles to high school, the Hallow app hosts age appropriate prayer challenges, saintly lullabies, daily Gospel, and so much more. All Lower Campus students will need a signed consent by September 12th. Hallow accounts are able to be active on up to 5 devices, so families will be able to use their students' school emails to enjoy the app.
